One, two, three

Here are 3 levels in the development of a recent oil painting.
Level one: prisma-color on canvas.
Level two; oil on canvas underpainting.
Level three: finished oil with multiple layers of glazes and scumbles.

If you have specific questions, please ask and I'll be happy to discuss in depth.

I loved this one before, I think I commended you on how you had captured the richness and texture of the fabric the lady is sewing,I loved the colours.
There is a marked transition between the first level of developement of the painting and the finished painting ... I must say that I truly love the first sketch too, for its softness, it is like a painting in pastels.
Great art dear Painter. xoxo ♥

Hi Dianne,

Yes there are transitions--literally thousands of them! Paintings seem to take of life of their own as they develop.

I really don't know where they are going but try to help them along the way. When I look at a finished piece I sometimes wonder where it came from ..really!

Kind of like relationships --wouldn't you say?

Cheers,

Painter
