What's on my easel?

Here's a small oil painting on board in progress. It is a study in values with layers and layers of deep shadows and few accents (eg. lips). The lead white will gradually be toned down as the work progresses.
As usual the richness and depth of the art does not photograph well because it is not...a photograph.

I hope to post the finished piece within a few weeks.
Cheers,

It is very beautiful and life like, as usual your skin tones and features are perfect.

Thank you for your comment at my blog, please don't think that I stole the title for my mediocre painting and that of my poem from your blog title.

I did compliment you on your blog title when you began posting because that is where I spend a lot of my time and thoughts 'between dreams and daylight'.
If you have any concerns I will happily change the titles of both if you so wish.

Hi Dianne,

Thanks for the interest in my art.
The skin tones, as in a real person, are translucent. Oil painting if done with transparent paint and lightly applied can achieve a similar effect.

The title to your fine work is just fine.

Cheers,

Painter

Thank you dear painter, I didn't want you to think I was stealing your blog title.

Yes, your skin tones are natural and translucent, I also wanted to comment on how you have captured the beauty and reflective lustre of the pearl earrings and the freshness of the cotton/linen fabric of her blouse.
